With "gunpowder in the ass" and a passion for sustainable fish preserves
POV BUSINESS // PORTRAIT – Martin Grøndal has had an inherent interest in food and especially canned fish ever since he was a boy. This is not least due to a tradition he had with his grandfather, where they hunted for new types of canned fish they had not tasted before and shared the contents when they were together. Today, the 35-year-old Martin has his own business, 'Grøndals' , which imports specially selected and sustainable canned fish from the Azores and Southern Europe. Among his customers are a number of gourmet restaurants, specialty shops, wine bars and some fishmongers. And from a fresh start just over three years ago selling 400 cans, he expects this year to reach over 60,000.
